"Within the past several years the International Chamber Music Competition organized by the Stanislaw Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk has gained significant position among similar ventures taking place on our continent. The first edition of the competition was held (...) in 1997, when Gdańsk celebrated its 1000th anniversary. The competition began on April 3 - the date on which exactly 100 years had passed since the death of Johannes Brahms. Thus the name of the competition, and the repertoire, which seriously includes the works of the great German composer (...)"
